Edinburgh village dental practice sold for the first time since 1990

Kirklisten Dental

Christie & Co has announced the sale of Kirkliston Dental Surgery near Edinburgh.

Founded in 1990 by Elizabeth and Graeme Lithgow, Kirkliston Dental Surgery is a four-surgery, mixed-income dental practice with 7,720 registered patients.

It is situated in the village of Kirkliston, near Edinburgh, nestled in a primarily-residential area with a variety of local shops and small businesses nearby.

Elizabeth and Graeme recently decided to sell because they wanted to retire from practice ownership.

They will both remain working at the practice post sale.

Following a confidential sales process with Kevin Strain at Christie & Co, it has been purchased by Vineeth Balachandran, the owner of Seven Hills Dental Practice, Bankton Dental Practice, and Midlothian Dental Practice.

Balachandran said: “I’m delighted to have acquired Kirkliston Dental Surgery and to welcome the team and patients into our group.

“Having operated three practices near Edinburgh, I’ve long admired Kirkliston’s strong community identity, growing population and the surgery’s commitment to quality care.

“We plan to invest in the facilities, expand clinical capacity, and introduce additional services over time, while maintaining the trusted, friendly environment patients value.”

Strain added: “The practice generated strong interest from a diverse pool of buyers, receiving multiple offers at the closing date, and was ultimately acquired by Dr Balachandran.

“This marks another smooth transition to an experienced operator committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

“The transaction also underscores the continued strength of demand for well-established dental practices across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.”

Kirkliston Dental Surgery was sold for an undisclosed price.
