Vienna dental clinic redefines the patient experience

Located in the Austrian capital of Vienna, the Dr Zgkouri Dental Clinic has recently undergone a renovation project which combines contemporary design with optimal hygiene and patient comfort as priorities.
The practice has been revamped by It’s Private Design, led by architect, Iolanda David, to create a welcoming-yet-highly-functional space which meets the demands of a state-of-the-art medical facility.
High-performance materials were key to the project, including the use of HIMACS Solid Surface in the iconic Alpine White shade.
A design for serenity and functionality
From the outset, the goal was clear: to transform a visit to the dentist into a more-reassuring experience for patients.
To achieve this, the team designed an environment defined by clean lines and a soft, neutral colour palette of white, olive and cream, to induce a sense of ease for patients and a pleasant working atmosphere for the dental team.
Sage green details bring freshness and vitality, while the interplay of natural and artificial light with the various textures creates a dynamic-yet-balanced ambience.
The furniture, custom-designed to fit the specific requirements of the space, was made from lacquered MDF and HIMACS, providing durability, aesthetic appeal, and versatility.
And all the worktops in the treatment rooms are in HIMACS Alpine White, ensuring a flawless finish and a safe, hygienic surface for daily clinical use.
“We wanted to show that aesthetics and functionality do not have to be mutually exclusive, but can be combined harmoniously to create a sense of well-being for everyone,” said David.

Aesthetic purity and maximum hygiene
The pristine tone of HIMACS Alpine White reinforces the clinic’s impression of cleanliness and clarity.
Beyond its visual appeal, though, the material is non-porous, resistant and easy to clean, preventing the build up of dirt and bacteria.
In addition, HIMACS Solid Surface can be installed seamlessly, without visible joints, ensuring a sleek, durable, easy-care finish with nowhere for pathogens to lurk.
These properties make it particularly suitable for healthcare environments where uncompromising standards of hygiene are essential.
“With HIMACS Alpine White we were able to achieve smooth, continuous surfaces that meet the stringent hygiene requirements of a dental clinic, while also delivering a contemporary, elegant design,” said a spokesman for Avantgarde Surfaces, which was responsible for the fabrication and installation of the material.
“Interior design in healthcare spaces is fundamental, not only to fulfil practical functions, but also to provide a positive experience for both patients and medical staff,” said David.
