Partners in life – and dentistry

Meet the two couples working together under one roof

This Valentine’s Day, mydentist celebrated more than just healthy smiles by shining a light on two heart-warming partnerships at its Middlesbrough practice.

From a long-standing marriage, to a new romance, these couples prove that love and laughter really are the best medicine – both at home and at work.

Kshamta and Vikram

Sixteen years strong: Kshamata and Vikram find comfort in collaboration

Kshamata Purohit rejoined mydentist in November 2025 and now works alongside her husband, Vikram, at the dental provider’s Middlesbrough practice.

Reflecting on their journey together, Kshamata said: “We’ve been married for 16 years after meeting through friends back in 2008.

“We haven’t worked together in the same practice for very long, just a few months, but his presence is unexpectedly comforting.

“I’ma highly-independent person, yet I really like knowing he’s somewhere in the background.

“It’s been lovely to be on a professional journey together; not many couples can say that.”

When asked what she admires most about her husband, Kshamata adds: “I admire his rapport with colleagues.

“He’s comfortable with everyone, and the working environment with him around is friendly and relaxed.

“It’s the small gestures that make a big difference – when he has a gap between appointments, he’ll pop into the surgery with a smile to check on me, which always makes my day.”

She continues: “He’s the rock of my life.

“Even though we don’t see each other much at work, it’s reassuring to know he’s there if I need him.

“Professionally, Vikram’s always pushes me to do more outside of my comfort zone, providing me with practical and professional advice should I ever need it.

“It’s great to work alongside someone who supports and guides me through my career.”

A recipe for success: Yousuf and Husna share daily joys in practice

Yousuf Qureshi joined mydentist Middlesbrough six months ago and reflects on his professional journey with his wife, Husna.

For dentist, Yousuf, working alongside his partner brings both practical benefits and meaningful everyday moments.

He explains: “Our relationship spans over a year and a half and began in a very -traditional way – I knew Husna’s father before asking for her hand in marriage.”

He adds: “It’s great working together.

“The biggest advantages are shared fuel costs and bonding over a good homemade lunch!

“I really admire Husna’s work ethic and dedication to her patients and having her in the practice always makes my day.

“While our professional roles sometimes overlap, we’re able to keep our personal and professional lives separate, ensuring we deliver the best possible care for our patients.”

Tips for a successful workplace partnership

Working together as a couple can be a deeply-rewarding experience, both professionally and personally.

Kshamata said: “Working together can work well; you must ensure on getting the balance right. When you do, it can be incredibly rewarding.”
