Busy dental practice changes hands as owners retire

The Dental Practice in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, has been sold to an existing operator after the previous owners decided to retire.
Established in 1993, two-surgery, predominantly-NHS business is located on a busy retail parade in Gateshead, surrounded by retail parks, commercial businesses, and large international businesses, which offer a secure patient base.
The practice was owned by husband-and-wife team Mark and Emma Benn since 1999 and was brought to market to allow them to retire.
Following a confidential sales process with Cathy Murphy at Christie & Co, it has been purchased by Dr Jaz Ali, who also owns Crescent Dental Care in Gateshead.
Mark and Emma said: “When we initially bought the practice in 1999, it had been set up as a squat in 1993 by our predecessor.
“It wasn’t busy enough for us both to work there, so we both worked part-time at the practice and also part-time as associates elsewhere.
“We built the practice up over the coming years, eventually able to accommodate both of us and a hygienist two days a week.
“We decided to sell as we wanted to improve our work-life balance and spend more time with family as we look towards retirement.”
Murphy adds: “Given its reputation and great location, the practice generated a high level of interest upon coming to market.
“I’m pleased that it is being handed over to an experienced practice owner, and I wish Jaz well with his new venture.
“The sale reflects the strong demand for quality, reputable practices in the North East.”
The Dental Practice was sold for an undisclosed price.
