Brothers buy Manchester dental business

Astley Dental Practice

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Astley Dental Centre in Manchester.

Astley Dental Centre is a well-established, two-surgery mixed-income dental practice located in Manchester Road in the busy village of Astley, just eight miles outside of Wigan and Manchester city centre.

The practice was previously owned by Smart Dental Care, a local group with over 30 sites across the Northwest and 19 in Northern Ireland.

Inherited as part of a larger group purchase, due to its size the owners felt that the practice would only grow going forward if it were owner-managed rather than in a company setting.

Following a confidential sales process with Cathy Murphy at Christie & Co, the practice has been purchased by brothers, Panos and Georgios Karageorgiou, who will be taking a hands-on approach to ownership.

This is their first practice purchase and they plan to grow the FPI quickly, incorporating specialisms over time.

Suken Shah, the group owner of Smart Dental Care, said: “We are sad to see it move out of the company after all of these years, but we felt it was the right thing to do as part of a reorientation of the company to running larger practices.

“The new owners are dentists who will be working in the practice and they have a range of additional skill sets which we hope will provide our former patients with wider access to specialist services.”

Murphy added: “In a thriving market, this mixed practice, formerly part of a successful group, stood out as a rare opportunity for first-time buyers to secure a stable, solid long-term investment.

“Demand for this opportunity was high and the practice will undoubtedly continue to flourish under their ownership.”

Astley Dental Centre was sold for an undisclosed price.
